7 days Morocco itinerary
A 7 days Morocco itinerary is the perfect way to experience Morocco’s dramatic contrasts—from bustling city souks and high mountain passes to the infinite silence of the Sahara
The 7 days Morocco itinerary starts from Marrakech to the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass. Visit the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou (Game of Thrones location), then drive through the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” to the stunning Dades Gorges
Visit the towering Todra Gorge (great for rock climbing and photos). Arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon for the highlight: a camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes to watch the sunset. You will sleep in a desert camp under the stars
Wake up for the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, take a 4×4 tour of the desert. Visit Khamlia village to hear Gnawa music, meet nomadic Berber families, and try sandboarding
Drive north through the Ziz Valley (stunning palm groves). Stop in Ifrane, known as “Morocco’s Switzerland” for its alpine architecture, and Azrou to see the Barbary apes in the cedar forest. Arrive in Fes in the evening
Explore the Fes el-Bali medina (UNESCO). Visit the Chouara Tanneries, the Al-Attarine Madrasa, and the oldest university in the world (Al Quaraouiyine)
Drive to the Rif Mountains to reach the “Blue Pearl” Chefchaouen. Spend the afternoon wandering the Insta-famous blue alleyways and shopping for local handicrafts.
Note: It is a long drive back to Marrakech (approx. 6-7 hours). If you are driving back, you will stop in the capital Rabat to see the Hassan Tower. Tip: To avoid the long drive, book a flight out of Fes or Tangier instead of returning to Marrakech
